Momy Levy, Gibraltar's first civic mayor, dies aged 80 @Investorseurope stockbrokers | Investors Europe, Gibraltar |
A member of the Jewish community, Momy Levy was the nephew of the late Sir Joshua Hassan. He served eighteen years with the Gibraltar Defence Force, becoming the unit’s first Jewish soldier. He set up his own estate agency in 1960. Momy was well loved for his many idiosyncracies: his collection of caricatures and model soldiers, his smart waistcoats, bow ties and pin-striped suits, and his devotion to all things Royal and British. He was also a strong advocate of unity among the different cultures and religions on the Rock. Gibraltar News, GBC News, Latest Gibraltar News
